Lamar Jackson scored 63, D’Andre Swift 62, Bijan Robinson 46, Justin Jefferson 44 and the Vikings defense 41. That already wins most weeks. Doing it while carrying zeros from Jaylen Waddle and Kyle Pitts Sr. is what turns an opening win into league-wide propaganda.
The useful comparison is obvious and almost rude. Chuba Hubbard scored 40 on the bench while DK Metcalf managed 8 in the W/R slot, a 32-point swing that could have made this team even more absurd. That matters less as criticism than as warning. When a roster can leave that much flex production unused and still clear 300, the ceiling is violent. The Pitts spot, though, was different. A mandatory TE slot cannot be solved by flex daydreaming, and the zero there needed a real fix.
To the Rebels’ credit, the current roster shows exactly that. Hunter Henry has already replaced Pitts, a roster change confirmed again Tuesday that admits the weakness without pretending the Week 1 zero did not happen. That is the kind of move good teams make fast. The other bench notes are quieter. Dak Prescott’s 41 did not demand the quarterback start over Lamar. Brian Thomas Jr. at 8 and J.K. Dobbins at 7 were decorative. Hubbard was the only true internal scream.
Week 2 brings Real Life Al Bundy, and the first response should be restraint. Henry can be compared with a freshly verified Gesicki option. Johnson missed Saints practice with illness, so he is not assured waiver insurance. The Rebels have plenty of firepower; the job is keeping eligible alternatives while the next reports clarify which players can use it.
Swift and Thomas were limited Wednesday. Hubbard, Dobbins and Love remain captured RB alternatives worth assessing before dealing depth away. Denver held no practice: Harvey’s hamstring grade was estimated nonparticipation, which makes Dobbins’s role worth watching without guaranteeing extra work. This is exactly when a useful bench earns its space. Preserve the choices until the official game designations arrive.
